Dr. Brooks joined Denver Liberty University in 2002 as a faculty member in the Law and Legal Studies Department. Over the years, she has taught a range of courses, including Constitutional Law, Legal Theory, and Comparative Legal Systems. Her innovative teaching methods and deep commitment to student development have earned her recognition as one of the university’s most respected educators.

Dr. Brooks’ research focuses on the role of law in promoting social equity and justice. She is the author of the acclaimed book Law and Social Justice: A Historical Perspective (Harvard University Press, 2018), which explores the historical evolution of legal frameworks aimed at advancing social justice. Her scholarly work also includes numerous articles in prestigious legal journals and contributions to various academic conferences.

An influential voice in the field of legal studies, Dr. Brooks has served on several advisory committees and editorial boards for major legal publications. She is a founding member of the Denver Legal Studies Consortium and has been a senior fellow at the Denver Institute for Social Justice.

Before joining Denver Liberty University, Dr. Brooks clerked for Judge Sandra Lynch of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and worked as a legal researcher for the Center for Constitutional Rights, where she contributed to landmark cases addressing civil rights and liberties.

Dr. Brooks earned her B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and her J.D. from Columbia Law School. Her educational background and professional experience have shaped her into a leading figure in constitutional law and legal studies, both nationally and internationally.

In her role as Head of the Department of Law and Legal Studies, Dr. Brooks continues to foster a dynamic and inclusive academic environment, guiding the next generation of legal scholars and practitioners.
