FIONA CARTER

Dr. Fiona Carter has served as the Head of the Department of Criminal Justice at Denver Liberty University for over two decades, establishing herself as a leading authority in criminal justice and criminology. She is renowned for her contributions to understanding the intersections of law enforcement, criminal behavior, and policy reform.

Dr. Carter joined the faculty at Denver Liberty University in 2002 and has since dedicated her career to advancing the field of criminal justice through both academic and practical pursuits. Her research focuses on criminal justice reform, policing strategies, and the social implications of crime. She has published extensively in top-tier journals on topics such as community policing, the effectiveness of criminal justice policies, and the impact of legal frameworks on marginalized communities.

Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Carter has been instrumental in developing innovative curricula for undergraduate and graduate programs in criminal justice. Her teaching portfolio includes courses on criminal law, forensic science, and criminal justice ethics. In addition to her role as department head, she is an active member of the university’s Criminal Justice Research Institute, where she leads several research initiatives aimed at improving justice systems both locally and nationally.

Dr. Carter’s expertise extends beyond academia into the practical realms of criminal justice. She has worked as a consultant for various governmental and non-governmental organizations on issues related to criminal justice policy and reform. Dr. Carter earned her B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, and her Ph.D. in Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to her tenure at Denver Liberty University, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institute of Justice, where she conducted groundbreaking research on crime trends and justice system effectiveness.
